As students prepared to return to classes, the Barbados Light & Power worked to ensure that electricity supply was restored to all schools throughout the island.
In general, restoration efforts continued during Wednesday, with steady progress being made. Supply was restored to a number of areas including - Salmons, North Point, Diamond Corner, and Chance Hall to Pie Corner, St. Lucy; Lady Meade Gardens, Waterford, and Grazettes, St. Michael; Hopewell, Mayers Corner to Sturges, and Dukes to Vaucluse, St. Thomas; Stewarts Hill, St. John; and Ealing Park in Christ Church. Customers in these areas who are still without power are asked to contact the Company at 436-9000.
Work continued into the night on restoring several other areas including Silver Sands, ChristChurch; Rock Hall, Allen View to Lion Castle, and Porey Spring to Content; St. Thomas. The Company’s attention is now focused on bringing supply back to the many individual customers who remain out of service due to problems on the individual service wires and transformers.
The Company estimates that the majority of the repairs will be completed by this weekend, but wishes to emphasise that there will be areas and individual services where repairs will extend into next week. Light & Power continues to appeal to everyone to be patient and understanding during this period.
