The Barbados Light & Power Co. Ltd. is pleased to announce that we have restored electricity to all our customers who were without electricity following the passage of Tropical Storm Tomas on October 30. We sincerely regret the inconvenience which many of our customers experienced during this period and thank them for their patience and understanding.
Generally, our system performed well under the circumstances, as much of the damage was as result of fallen tress and flying debris. To date, we have had to change out 167 poles from a total of 70,000 poles, which are currently on our network. During the course of the restoration, “temporary fixes” may have been implemented in some instances to minimize the inconvenience to customers. However, as we revisit these areas and continue to straighten leaning poles and tighten hanging wires, customers may once again experience some area outages while we are carry out permanent repair work. In these cases, customers will be notified, where possible of any planned outages.
We thank our dedicated cadre of employees, whose commitment and dedication during the period have brought us through this period. They have demonstrated once again the Company’s promise that “we are there… working together to satisfy customer requirements.”
