Customers of The Barbados Light & Power Company recently benefitted from free health checks during the Company’s annual Customer Appreciation Day activity. Customers were the priority of the day and health was the focus. Facilitated in partnership with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados, customers conducting business at the Company were able to have their blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels tested by health professionals at both their City and Garrison offices.
Senior Customer Services Supervisor, Mr. Rodney Dottin, said that, “Customer Appreciation Day is when we take the opportunity to show gratitude to our customers. The free health checks we offered to customers were in keeping with our own internal focus on safety, health and wellness. Similar checks are offered throughout the year to our employees through the partnership with the Heart & Stoke Foundation. We encourage our employees to be healthy and stay fit to remain productive at work and in their personal lives. By extending our programme to our customers, we have a unique opportunity to give back, especially during this difficult economic time. ”
In addition to the health checks which were a part of the Company’s anniversary celebrations, employees participated in a blood drive to assist the island’s blood bank. Neighboring organizations were also invited to come to the Garrison head office to participate in the activity.
President of Light & Power’s Employee Relations Council, Wayde Dottin, said that employees view the annual blood drive as a way to enhance the nation’s health. “We see this as our chance to help in another way. Further to providing a needed electricity service, we are supporting the health of the nation.”
Representatives of the Barbados Blood Bank thanked the Company for its continuous support and contribution over the years. Light & Power has been involved with the organization for more than fifteen years.
