Barbados Light & Power Company Managing Director Designate appointed
The Barbados Light & Power Company (BLPC) is pleased to announce that Mr. Roger Blackman has been appointed Managing Director Designate.
Formerly the Business Development Manager, Mr. Blackman has served the Company in increasingly senior roles over the past 23 years. A graduate of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus and Durham University, UK, his vision, adaptability and industry knowledge have had tremendous impact on our business during his tenure, and will serve him well in his new role.
While he assumes the Managing Director Designate role immediately, Mr. Blackman and his family will relocate to Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 1, 2014 where he will work with the senior strategy team at parent company, Emera Inc., for 18-24 months. This secondment provides an exceptional development opportunity for Mr. Blackman and aligns with Emera companies’ philosophy of growing its employees from within.
“I am grateful for the confidence shown in me by our Board of Directors,” Mr. Blackman said. “I look forward to working with them and with all of our employees to lead BLPC at a time of significant change. I am also excited for the opportunity to work with Emera’s team in Halifax over the next several months, and to bring a deeper knowledge of our industry back home.”
During Mr. Blackman’s secondment, the Executive Chairman, Ms. Sarah MacDonald, will continue to oversee the operations of BLPC.
